New Web Site
On 1st September 2008 a new web site was launched for Long Melford village by the Business Association, supported by the Parish Council. You can look at it now with the name 'www.longmelford.co.uk' . This site is continuing for some time, however, using the domain name 'www.longmelford.info' instead.

The weather has turned wet, but we are lucky not to have had the floods affecting the West of the country. Here are a few images showing what the countryside looks like at the moment.
Lots of berries in the hedgerows, and the rowans (or 'mountain ash') seem to be particularly rich this year.
The corn harvest is over, and we have miles of stubble fields, now being ploughed in.
At the end of August there were lots of butterflies about, mainly large whites, but in the sunny patches in the footpaths you find these 'Speckled Woods' as well. They are quite territorial, and when disturbed they fly around for a minute or so and settle back on the same sprig of nettle or whatever they were sitting on before.
Note on frames: If you find frame displays a nuisance (maybe on a small screen), you can turn them off and on with these two buttons :

If you are looking for some information about the village and can't find it here, please tell us and we can try to do something about it for the future.
